At ETS we are not merely an academic institution, but
we are also a community. Both single and married students
live on campus in newly refurbished dormitory rooms.
We share meals together three times a day in the cafeteria
and we all share in the responsibility of maintaining
the campus through work assignments. Each student and
boarder contributes twelve hours a week to various tasks.
Students and staff come together for and participate
in chapel services as a way of growing together in the
Lord. We also worship together in various local evangelical
churches along with local Christians. All students are
also involved in practical ministry training, which
takes them to churches, orphanages, refugee camps, and
other places. At ETS we learn to live together, to study,
to work, to worship and gain practical ministry experience
in a variety of settings.
According to ETS policy, all students have to complete
a two-hour- a- day working task for the benefit of the
ETS community. Students are expected to fulfill their
obligations conscientiously as unto the Lord and need
to keep the daily routine that is a part of our community
life. Every student has to do his/her job according
to the task schedule and is expected to come on time
to their tasks and services. (5 minutes before the appointed
time is the best.)
ETS is locked at 11 p.m. every night and is opened
at 7 a.m. the next morning. During that time, all students
are expected to be in their rooms. Any activity that
disturbs the sleep of other students or residents during
night hours (11p.m. 7 a.m.) is not allowed (i.e.
loud cleaning, listening to radio or tape players, watching
TV, showering, talking etc.).
During warm weather students can take advantage of
the playing field in the Seminarys backyard to
play football, volleyball, basketball and other outdoor
sports, or just to relax. Different matches with other
teams from Osijek are organized at some of the many
other playing fields in the city. For those who just
wish to get some exercise and fresh air, Osijek itself
is blessed with many fine parks and walking paths, especially
along the Drava River.
There is also an indoor swimming pool about a 10-minute
drive from the Seminary that is available to students
for a small fee as are nearby fitness centers for weightlifting
and aerobics.
For a rest, students enjoy relaxing and socializing
in the Mennonite Room, our students lounge equipped
with large couches and a television. Students also regularly
organize the screening of rented movies on weekends.
At the beginning of each new academic year, staff and
students organize a fall picnic for the new students
to be introduced to their older colleagues. Students
organize a special party at Christmas and also for the
graduating class at the end of the academic year.
