"For attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young - let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance - for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline." Proverbs 1:2-7

Library Volunteers

Last summer a group of fifteen volunteers from the Woodlands United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, USA, led by their pastor Rev. Dr. John Hull and Dr. Judith Powell, spent a week at ETS. From the 24th to the 31st of July 2009 they invested many hours in the ETS Library on a variety of jobs: inventorying and sorting books, typing and attaching shelf marks, searching for book codes online, putting the reference room in order etc.

It was not all library work though. The group took part in services in the Evangelical churches in Borovo Naselje, Ilača and Osijek and in coordination with Nevenka Khalil led a workshop titled „Building Bridges“ for pastors and others involved in counseling on the relation between pastoral and Christian counseling. The group also made trips to Vukovar, Vučedol, the memorial cemetery at Ovčara, the Valpovo castle and the „Griva“ gallery.

The library staff and the whole ETS community sincerely appreciate their efforts in the library and spiritual contribution and hope that they will visit us again.
