Undergraduate Program

Currently three tracks of study are offered: Christian Theology; Religion and Society; and Applied Theology. Some individual courses are common to two or to all three tracks, especially during the first two years. These would include, for example, introductory courses in Old and New Testament, hermeneutics and exegesis, systematic theology, and church history. All students write a dissertation of 40-60 pages in their final semester. Classes are conducted in Croatian and/or English, with translation as needed. Much of the required reading is in English. Students must be enrolled in English classes each semester and are expected to pass the English Proficiency test and English composition courses.

Christian Theology

This programme offers training in classical theology. It equips students for serious work on the biblical text and gives them a solid knowledge of the development of Christian thought and history. The study of biblical languages and basic Latin is required. Students learn to apply theological knowledge to contemporary contexts.

Religion and Society

Students in this track engage in the academic study of religion. The programme presupposes general knowledge, a good grasp of language and logical thinking. Acquiring a fundamental biblical knowledge and a broad perspective on religion, the student will explore its impact on society in realms such as politics, media, arts and social involvement. The student is given the basis for a personal reading of the Bible and its application to modern contexts.

Applied Theology

This track is for students interested in supportive church ministries such as youth work, church planting, evangelism, mission, etc. In addition to biblical knowledge and Christian theology and history, this programme’s main emphasis is the practical application of biblical principles in the everyday life of the church. The student chooses more specific emphasis through electives and supervised individual work. The Applied Theology programme is the only programme that can be studied part-time. That is, one year of study may be taken over two calendar years, for a total of six years. Students must travel to Osijek to attend some lectures (to be held at weekends) and to take exams. They will do most work on their own under supervision.
